1971 (Aug) Lotus Elan+2 s130 For Sale
Bahama Yellow with silver roof. Lotus Brand alloy wheels. First registered 22nd Speptember 1971 to Sports Motors (Manchester) Ltd who sold it on to a Mr A Wood. The mileage is genuine at 107000-not bad for 41 years! I am the 11th owner; the first owner must have used the car as his daily transport because by 1978 the car had done 55,000 miles at which time he had it refurbished (including new chassis) at the Lotus Factory at a cost of £1,946. At 82,000 miles the cylinder head was reconditioned and at 93,000 the brakes were refurbished. I have owned the car for over 6 years and have enjoyed driving what is very much a grand tourer when compared with my Elan Sprint. The car has a current MOT and a recent check-over and service. It has been maintained by a Lotus specialist here in my village. Without a full recent respray the bodywork inevitably shows the odd small blemish on close examination-but nothing serious. Bright work all good; original Phillips Turnolock radio with electric aerial, non-functional, although the radio does show a small light. Cooling fan over-ride switch. Rear seat belts. Hidden cut-off switch in boot. Every effort has been made to keep the car as original as possible. Still using Rotoflex couplings-no problems. From the photos you might notice the hump in the bonnet. This car, with other unsold +2's and Elans was put back through the factory to fit the big valve Weber carburettor engine to create the s130. This happened in August 1971 (can be confirmed) and was sold in September. The backlog of cars was cleared very quickly. It has a rather different chassis number because of this;7100000494L but all legit! Large history files. More photos available. This car is "on the button" and ready to go and have fun with.
