For those not familiar, the 35th Anniversary was built in 2005 to commemorate 35 years of Range Rover. Only 35 (including one pre-production pilot car) were ever built, and were based on the new 4.2 Supercharged Autobiography model. Therefore, the car comes with a wide range of optional extras including TV/DVD system, rear entertainment system, 6-CD multichanger and adaptive Xeon headlights.
Finished in Anniversary Claret, with a two-tone claret over jet black interior, this car is number 13/35. Registered in September 2006, the car has passed through 3 previous owners and has covered 95,250 miles, with a full-service history from various main dealers and/or specialists. During my ownership the car has needed very little work, except for the serviceable items such as brakes and tyres.
Mechanically, the car drives superb, with plenty of power on demand from the near 400bhp supercharged V8. The brakes are equally as good, and pull the car up in a straight line, with no untoward noises or vibrations. The 6-speed ZF gearbox is also faultless, selecting gears smoothly, with everything working as it should do. Being a cross over model (part series 1 L322, but mainly series 2 L322), the 35th’s sadly don’t have the much-acclaimed Terrain Response system. However, the high and low range box operate as they should, as does the hill decent.
The interior is perfect, with the leather having very minimal wear. For the perfectionists the centre console is starting to show signs of age, but could be easily rectified. Being a 35th Anniversary, the car comes with its coloured coded lambs’ wool over mats, which are brand new and have never been used (they have been stored out of the sunlight for the past 3 years).
Exterior wise the car is in extremely good condition with no untoward parking dents or scrapes. As can be seen from the exterior photos the paintwork has a deep lustre to it, and in the sunlight the metallics really do come into their own. Unfortunately, last September some dozy idiot reversed his van into the driver’s side rear wing, needless to say it put a small dent in that (he claimed not to have seen a 2.5 tonne Range Rover!) Although this has now all been repaired – in addition a small amount of rust was found at the base of the wheel arch (where it meets the boot floor) and this has also been dealt with – in certain lights there is a small colour difference.
With much regret it needs to find a new home and go to somebody who will appreciate the rarity of this unique vehicle.
