|A change in circumstances means our Camper Van project is up for sale. This is a Bivouac Conversion of a Standard 5.2i B250 and gives it a high roofline. It was imported into the UK in 1989. The interior was in a very poor condition and has been removed and disposed of. The photos show the present condition of the van. All door bottoms have been replaced by panels imported from the States, but may need further work to obtain a good fit. The roof corners were all corroded and leaking , these have been cut out and replaced with new metal, the roof has been resealed to the body. Here's a brief summary of whats been done:|
On the engine, Top end gasket set fitted, Radiator replaced, hoses replaced, water pump replaced, Powersteering box replaced, Powersteering resevoir replaced.
New exhaust fitted ( not sealed as it was just to get the van running), New O2 sensor.
Suspension, new front springs, top and bottom wishbones Incl ball joints, various steering joints. All 4 shocks.
Propshaft was just given new u/j's, but the final drive could do with some work as it has some play when drive is taken up.
I rebuilt the gearbox, new bands and seals. The Camper has not been on the road, but will move in forward and reverse.
Window seals have been replaced or replacement seal is included where available.
There are 4 alloy wheels all with new tyres (2013 purchase). The wheels have been professionally refinished. The van is currently on its steel wheels for storage.
The front hub's and discs were replaced as where the rear drums and shoes, brakes and fuel lines also replaced with new as was the fuel pump (in tank and fuel filter). The injectors were cleaned and one was replaced ( 2 in a 4 barrel carb arrangement) the idle will need setting once the camper is ready to go. The engine wiring loom was re wrapped and some wires were replaced due to corrosion. The Original Split Charging system is within the engine bay, but as I haven't used it performance is unknown.
The whole interior including the original front seats were so bad we junked them - except the 'rock n roll' seat frames for the rear interior. They are not in the photos.
Theres about 5 or 6 boxes of new and used parts to go with the van, some new door seals / new door handles, service consumables, all the windows some interior trim for the cab area and door mirrors. The original rear door frame top is included as it has the capture plate for the door locks.
There's also various some new electrical fittings (mostly CBE) to go towards converting the van back to a Camper.
The Dodge will need further mechanical work as well as cosmetic. For example, Camber, Castor and tracking will need resetting due to the new front wishbones. The Airconditioning was working, but professionally degassed as I was going to renew all the pipework ( from Rockauto). A spare windscreen is also included. Rockauto in America was the source for most replacement parts. It'll also need repainting. There is a special paint included, supplied for sealing fiberglass roof's which was purchased but this was about 5 years ago so hopefully still within its shelf life.
The only remaining parts from the original 'camper interior' is the fridge unit which is also included ( LPG/ Electric ).Various Covered Trim panels from the original interior ( poor Condition due to water damage but useful as a pattern). These can run the length of the van so are big. The upper plywood bed base is also included but not in the pictures.
I have a full workshop manual and parts book for it.
The Van is currently SORN as although it runs and will drive it has no MOT or Tax.
We've spent a lot on replacement parts and this could end up a truly unique camper for someone with the time and ability.
Please see photos for condition and parts included. The Van will need collection on a trailer. The extra parts may need a van to remove depending on whats left in the van for transit - remember it has no windows fitted at all.
The Parts are not available seperately so please don't ask. The buyer is responsible for arranging the collection of the vehicle.
Thanks for looking. Price is reflective of the work done and the parts cost added to the general cost of a B250.
Payment is only available as bank transfer. The van is advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to end the auction.
Ok all the phots are now uploaded. If theres anything specific just let me know via eBay.
Last photo is of the evaporator (LPG), this wasn't working well so the system has by and large been removed.
Just to qualify the spares and used parts included: mainly consumable items and parts removed from the van during disassembly so not loads of brand new spares. I'll see if I can get a list together and add it here. I haven't done any work on it other than running it occasionally over the last 5 years so most of this is from memory. Most of the new parts purchased have already been fitted. However the original steering box and pump are included as is a Snapon diagnostic tool (if I can find it) which is required for the ignition / servicing if memory serves - I've never used it but I understand it works.
New parts included - not exhaustive list, just what I could write down without unpacking the van.
4 Door Handles
2 door locks
CBE distribution board and Sockets/ guages
Steering shaft kit
Power steering pump and Box kits
Various Speedi sleeves
Master Cylinder and resevoir
Some door seals
Front door window runners
Fuel filters 2
Oil filters 2
Fan for roof
The Diagnostic tool is a Snapon MT2500.
- just found a used front bumper with overriders we got for it. It'll be included in the sale.
