This 1973 2.8 RSR tribute car is based on a 1984 3.2 Carrera but fitted with a 3.5L twin plug RSR inspired engine of 350bhp and upgraded throughout to cope with the extra power.

It has covered only 3000 miles since a full mechanical build that includes, RSR twin plug 3.5Litre engine on Motronic Injection, 915 strengthened gearbox with LSD and cooler, 6 pot and 4 pot callipers with ventilated disks, KW adjustable suspension and new Michelin TB15 tyres all round on new 9 & 11in RSR Fuch Style wheels. Steel tubular framed Rennsport Safari Rally seats are fitted with a full roll cage, harnesses and lightweight interior. Painted in period Gulf Blue paintwork the car looks and drives better and faster than the model it attempts to replicate, a 1973 2.8 RSR.

This car is simply ballistic weighing in at less than 1000Kg and sounds incredible on its new ceramic coated full race headers and open pipe exhaust system. The choice of a more modern chassis endows it with greater strength and the bonus is it is galvanised too so it won't rust. Just to make sure both inner and outer sills and jacking points and kidney bowls have been replaced and reinforced, a strut brace fitted and period chassis strengthening modifications carried out. A 10,000 tacho and 180mph period speedometer completes the transformation.

This car is not for the faint hearted and with values of original 2.8 RSRs now exceeding 1.5 million pounds this retro mod is a fraction of the cost of owning a real one with none of the risks involved. This car can be driven and used as intended.

The engine build cost was over 50,000 pounds and I don't mind keeping it so I can offer the car with this engine removed and a standard 155mph 3.2 Carrera engine installed in its place for 95,000, the choice is yours. It will still be a phenomenally quick car as it weighs less than the car it was based on even with the standard engine re-installed.
