Fully restored in the late nineteen nineties, this beautiful Mk1 Cooper S 1275 is in its original colour scheme and is in superb condition throughout. The numerous invoices in the file show that the car had a proper detailed and extensive restoration. Nothing was left untouched and, judging from its fine condition today, it was done with care and skill.
The engine was fully rebuilt 1,000 miles ago and is smooth and sounds wonderful. The interior had all new Newton Commercial trim and shows no wear or deterioration. The underside is body coloured and the suspension and brake components are painted and there is now a little road grime reflecting some use over the years. The bodywork is excellent with smooth, even paintwork with no hint of anything untoward anywhere. All the usual areas where Minis can suffer rust issues are superb.
Period style bucket seats are fitted, which are trimmed to match the rest of the interior, and the original seats come with the car for those who prefer them. The S has Rose Petal alloy wheels wearing Yokohama tyres and light upgrades include an RC40 single box exhaust with an LCB freeflow manifold, Koni shock absorbers, adjustable tie rods and Minifin rear brake drums.
A BMIHT Heritage Certificate shows that the car was supplied new to Lincolnshire and it appears to have stayed in the Lincs/Suffolk area for most of its life. It retains its original registration number, the original green logbook is in the file, and has a current V5C registration document.
The chassis plate and the engine number match the Heritage Certificate, confirming that the original unit is still in the car.
In fine order throughout and looking just right, this Cooper S is a delight.
