| One of the joys of having a small bike business is being able to relive your youth. I purchased a Suzuki B120 new in 1975, traded it in for a 400/4 18 months later but remember this machine as my first real motorcycle. Over the past few years I’ve been looking for good B120, many have been trashed, bits missing, rusted up, the bike was never considered as desirable as some other far more sporty two stokes on the 70’s and has, until recently been largely ignored. This machine was advertised on car and classic and seemed far too good to miss. I pretty much jumped in the van and went to see it immediately and upon seeing it knew that it would simply have to join the stable. It has been restored by a delightful gentleman who had done a frankly incredible job. Every part had been either cleaned, restored or replaced with new old stock. It looked perfect, it wasn’t. Well it was perfect and indeed is still perfect, but it wasn’t and still isn’t, red. The B120 was available in a number of colours, red (fastest of course), black, light blue and a sort of pink colour, this bike is the latter. I wanted and still want a red one, but this motorcycle is simply fabulous, you will not find a better one. This is not just a show pony however (although I won’t be taking it out in the rain) it runs beautifully. Give it a little choke and one or two prods on the kick starter and it bursts into life producing copious amounts of blue smoke which smells to anyone over 45 like victory. The bike soon settles down and its cloaking device (smoke) dissipates and your ready for the off, four speeds, all down can have you reaching the dizzy heights of around 60 mph, but better still you will feel 17 again.
