1899 Leon Bollee Voiturette For Sale

Amédée Bollée built a number of steam carriages, beginning in 1873. His sons, Amédée fils and Léon, took part in the 1895 Paris-Bordeaux-Paris race, and Léon patented a tandemseat, three-wheel vehicle with a horizontal single-cylinder engine that same year. Light in weight, his voiturettes performed well, achieving speeds of up to 60 km/h. The machines became quite popular, and the British rights were acquired by the pioneer entrepreneur Harry Lawson. This Léon Bollée voiturette has obviously been restored at some stage. It seats two in front, with the driver to the rear. Steering is done by the single rear wheel.
