1983 Austin Rover Mini 1098 For SaleFor sale is my 1983 Austin Rover mini, I bought it last year with every intention of keeping it forever, but a change of job means I have to unfortunately let go of this wonderful little car. When I got the car I had it health checked at a local mini specialist Tupmans, mainly because of an mot a couple years ago which had a long list of work that I wanted to check had been done properly. Thankfully The work had been done well and does have the receipts for the work. Since I’ve owned it I’ve had both inner drive shaft joints replaced, the carb was rebuilt, a new alternator and fan belt fitted and a rocker cover and head gasket done. The car was stripped and sprayed eclipse blue with a white roof back in 2014 and still looks good today, I have the receipt for this. It has a stereo amp setup which is hidden under the passenger seat and has two 6x9s under the rear seat, it is very loud. The interior is from a Red Hot mini and is in good condition, but was something I wanted to change. It’s had an engine swap at some time as it started life as a Red 998 Mayfair but is registered as a Blue 1098, It always has a fletcher exhaust fitted which sounds lovely running around town. The car is solid underneath and has been wax oiled through out, its had a fair bit of welding done which I have the receipts for. It’s had the 7.5 Cooper s brake conversation and is running on some 10x6 ultralite wheels with Bridgestone tyres. I also have a set of 10” black minilites with Yokohamas that can come with the car if you want them. It does have a few bad bits (it is nearly 40 years old) the front drivers side wing was damaged by a neighbour who couldn’t wait to defrost their car, it was only the bottom half where the exhaust hit. I have bent it back and painted it black just to stop any water getting in and causing rust, but it catches a little on full left lock and has now gouged the tyre. The mileometer stopped working a couple weeks ago, I took it apart but the cogs are so fragile that I decided to leave it. Obviously it’s not original anyway so I’ve nudged it back to 90000 where it was when it was last motd, the Speedo, oil pressure and water temp work fine and you have the nice old style centre cluster. The roof lining is original but a little rough around the edges, it’s been debumpered which isn’t to everyone’s taste, The starter motor sometimes over spins and doesn’t engage, I took it off and greased it up which seems to have solved it for now. It’s motd till September but in two years will be exempted, it’s started everyday, driven when it’s dry and keeped in a garage most of the time. If you know minis you know they need constant love and tinkering but this is a good solid runner that currently requires nothing, but i always carry a spare belt and plugs just incase, I’ve owned a few minis in the last 10 years and this is by far the best. I do have service history going back to 2014 and if you any questions just ask. This advert has now been removed through sale or otherwise, please see the list below for similar live adverts |
