1969 MGC GT. Manual/Overdrive. Fast road spec. For Sale

At the time of it's introduction at the Earls Court Motor Show of 1967 the MGC GT was the most powerful Sports car to emerge from the MG plant at Abingdon. Powered by a new 3 litre six cylinder engine, this was a Grand Tourer in every sense of the phrase. From the announcement of the MGB in 1962, there was always meant to be a more powerful version and it was only a matter of time before a suitable bigger engine was developed and fitted into the MGB chassis and the MGC was born.

The high spec example we offer here was first registered on the 5th of February 1969. The last owner bought the car of a gentleman who had spent in excess of £17000 on the car which included a complete engine rebuild to fast road spec, a gearbox and overdrive rebuild and upgrade of the suspension and brakes. The engine rebuild included lightening and balancing, stage 2 cylinder head, fast road cam, 6 branch tubular exhaust manifold with stainless steel exhust system, high torque starter motor, high output alternator, electronic ignition and K & N air filters.

The suspension was treated to polybushes all round, front and rear telescopic shock absorbers, uprated torsion bars, new parabolic rear springs, quick steering rack and ventilated disc brakes. Plus much more.

The car has covered just 7, 000 miles since the engine rebuild.

The MGC was not simply a tuned MGB however, it was a considerably re-engineered car, with new torsion ...
