1975 Toyota Celica RA25 Fastback
2.0L / 18R Engine / 140bhp / Weber Carbs

If you fought at Okinawa, or always swear by British Leyland, then you might want to look elsewhere.

For sale is my very rare 1975 Toyota Celica RA25 Fastback.

Lets start with the obvious. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Ford Detroit may face to the easy and take a deep bow, for the inscrutable oriental gentlemen of the Toyota Motor Company have immortalised the once-dominating American automotive symbol of youth in genuine Japanese sheet metal. Some might say that the Celica trumps the mustang in aesthetics, I wouldn't disagree.

The Japanese had an uncanny habit of taking something special and making it better. - In this case - The Ford Mustang. Before the Celica, most Japanese mass-market coupes were simply two-door versions of mundane sedans. The Celica played a part in changing that. It was genuinely stylish, extremely reliable, loaded with extras and an incredible drive.

This version is the Japanese Domestic Market model. The flagship model of all Celicas that was only available to purchase in Japan from 1973-1975.

You could be mistaken for confusing this with the RA28 Version - The version we got here in the UK and Europe, But there are many many differences which set this model apart from the others which I will touch on shortly.

I'll begin with the general information of the car and I'll follow up with some in-depth details for those who take a keen interest.

The car was first registered in Japan in October 1975. She was exported out of Japan in February 2020 and landed in the UK some time in June and is still currently unregistered, Please note the reg-plate on the photos are from my personal Celica and was only placed on the car for a placeholder for the photographs. I have not yet registered the car and this is only due to the fact that I think it would better for the future owner to be the first UK owner of this car, as to preserve future value. I purchased this with intentions to keep it, however genuine plans changed once it was on the container ship over to me and now I am reluctantly forced to sell. For any possible buyer - I can register this on your behalf free of charge or I can assist you if you wish to do it yourself. Its 5 minute paperwork and £73 to the DVLA and a 3-5 week wait for the registration to come. A very very simple process.

This was on the road being driven in Japan in May 2019 and actually passed its Japanese MOT Equivalent ( Shaken )on the 15/5/2019 when it was sitting on 90,100km The car is currently sitting on 95,700 KM, Which roughly translates to 59,400 Miles. So it was clearly driven more after the Shaken (MOT) in Japan. I imported the car in February 2020. This is not a car that has sat still in Japan for years on end. It is fully functional, Nothing is seized up or needs servicing. The condition is fantastic for a 45 year old car and I do believe this to be the original mileage due to the underside, the inside, outside and the fact I have never seen an RA25 Shell this clean that has not been restored. She is also sitting on her original Toyota wheels which are a bit of a rarity now. I do currently own another RA25 GT2000 Which I have owned for the last 6 years so I have a pretty good understanding of the niggly bits of these gorgeous machines.

The car is right hand drive, 4 speed manual, Rear wheel drive with plenty of power on tap when needed. In my short ownership she has undergone a service, new OEM oil pump, a couple of bulbs replaced on the interior, new battery and a new carpet. The car is in fantastic condition and has the added benefit of never seeing the dreaded salty roads that we have to endure here in the UK. I am more than happy for any viewer to fine-pick the car and find any evidence of rot, rust, or anything of concern. There are a few small ( very very small and shallow ) dents that would be nigh on impossible to spot unless I pointed them out to you. The rear bumper also has a small dent that could be pulled very easily. - Please note - This is me being EXTREMELY picky. The underside is clean and rust free, the sills are solid and all rubber seals are in good condition. The only thing that needs attention ( if you want a 100% concourse car ) is the engine bay. It is a 45 year old engine bay and has not been 'tidied' up so to say, But it is still perfectly fine and again this is me being picky.
The interior is in lovely nick too. The dash is not cracked which is usually a common issue with these cars, the center console is in nice condition, as is the gauge cluster. All bulbs illuminate inside, all gauges work perfectly. There are some very cool features such as " washer fluid " warning lights, "brake bulb" warning lights etc - Stuff that we don't even see in modern cars. It also has its original dogtooth interior, plenty of life left in them, the rear seats are the same however there is a tear on the top of the bolters of the rear seats. This is not an issue however as I will be providing a full Custom manufactured Basket weave Black GT Seat covers for anybody who wishes to replace the dogtooth pattern covers. These covers were custom made by Grant Donaldson in New Zealand at a very hefty price and any 'googling' his name will show you how good his work is. ( Bare in mind he has a 3 year waiting list to make Celica covers due to big demand and his incredible craftmanship ). Personally I love the Dogtooth but the option is there for any future buyer which is a win-win.

Mechanical :- Engine runs sweet as a nut. Starts up on the turn of the key hot or cold ( Videos to prove this ), Sounds absolutely lovely, Nice and grunty with a gorgeous idle note, Accelerates with a nice swift motion - Very responsive and steering is still very responsive. Car idles perfectly when warmed up but can be adjusted via the carb if need be. Brakes are nice and responsive and does not feel 'unsafe' like most classic cars can. Driving this car is unlike anything else, I sneaked it out to take the photos and the amount of waves, thumbs up, and neck breaking that happens is fantastic - its been difficult opening the garage door without some passer-by stopping to chat about it and ask if its for sale. Gear changes work perfectly with a nice snap into each gear, It does not feel loose and always finds gear with ease, Acceleration is on the button and is fast enough for any classic car of this age. All in all, It is a perfect fully original base for the next owner to add their own touch, be it engine bay work, lowering the car, deeper dish wheels, whatever they desire. I think with 2-3k spending on this car your looking at a value of 45-50k in the current market for the RA25 Celica's. I see these go through auction weekly in Japan and prices are shooting up and pretty soon these will be unobtainable to most folk.

So what sets this version apart from the UK versions we got? - There are HUGE differences in the Celica's they got in Japan to the ones that was shipped worldwide. Let me explain : This is the 'long nose' Celica - Which literally means it had a longer nose giving it that classic 'GT' look. It has different front bumpers, rear bumpers, a different bonnet which boasts those gorgeous 'dragon like' nostrils for breathers. It has different rear ' Banana ' Tail lights which are extremely rare and fetch premiums of £1000 + ( As do the bumpers ). It also has the invisible fuel filler cap which is located between the two rear lights via a flap down panel which is a very very cool feature. You can see when looking at the car carefully they genuinely cared about the lines and the aesthetics of this car. Its aggressive yet refined, stylish yet brutal, But more sporty than muscle in my opinion ( Aside from the shape of course ). The interior is also different, The JDM version has a completely different Center console, gauge cluster and door cards. You tend to find that owners of the Standard Fastback Celica try to buy the parts from the JDM versions and it has driven the price of exterior parts up like the lights, fuel panel, bumpers, bonnets up in huge value. If you are looking for the Creme De La Creme of Celicas, This is it.

As we all know, Toyota built their engines to last, I have no doubt in my mind there is many many years left in the old girl before she needs anything major. If like me you believe your money is better off in assets than sitting in the bank earning minimal interest or in some cases losing money then this is the car for you.

We have seen how the classic fords have risen in value, we have seen how the Datsun 240z are rising in value. There is so much room for profit in this car for the future buyer and I firmly believe this is a no brainer. I have been in classic Celica ownership now for 6 years and I have already seen prices sky-rocket in Japan for these along side the TA22 (Coupe) Versions. The Fastback Celica is a true, jaw-dropping head turner and ALWAYS commands attention at car shows or on simple drives out, I can not count how many times I have driven my personal one out and ended up chatting for hours on car parks with other enthusiasts. The classic Toyota community is strong and very much alive. There is an added bonus that parts for these are still readily available via Toyheadauto.com - From full engine-rebuilt kits to small rubber seals, switches, wiring, - Pretty much any part is available ( aside from the rare exterior parts which have gone mental in values ).

I firmly believe this is a £45,000-£50-000 car if the future owner tidies up the engine bay, There is big profit margins in the car for anybody wishing to sell on, or hold for higher values. Do also remember that this car is MOT Exempt and Tax Exempt which is a decent saving per year. - One this for sure - It will never lose value. At the end of the day - These cars are only going to go one way, and its up. If your looking for a clean, original example of what an iconic 70's Celica feels like - Look no further.

I welcome any questions about the car, And any viewers but I must stress that I am limited on time due to working night-shift so I am asking for serious viewers only please. I am not interested in any tyre kickers or dreamers. Viewing will be at the storage garage where I have this stored and it can not be test driven due to not being registered. I can however fire her up, and you can inspect as much as you wish.
I am asking £35,000 GBP for the car. I am open to some wiggle room to accommodate a sale. The car can be shipped worldwide at the buyers expense. I can also have this transported free to any UK address upon purchase so you can have the car immediately. I have all import papers, ownership papers and will provide a full receipt for any buyer should they require one.

If you want to contact me it would be best to email me on : Rusing the button below - or - TEXT me on the details below and if needed we can arrange a phone call from there on, As stated I work night shifts so my reply's may be a little delayed due to my sleep pattern / work schedule. I am located 10 minutes of the M6 and M61 in Wigan.

The car is listed on multiple website so may be removed at any notice. The photos are from 23/01/2021 and the car had not been detailed. If you think it looks clean now - Imagine it after a proper clean.
