1968 Rare manual Daimler 250 V8 saloon For Sale

Rare 1968 manual Daimler 250 V8 saloon, one of only 150 made. This car has the power steering rack conversion, louvred bonnet, four speed manual gearbox with overdrive, electronic ignition, motolita wood rim steering wheel, DAB radio with hands free, new headlining, wire wheels, full stainless steel exhaust system, louvered bonnet and Coombes spats. I have owned this car for 13 or 14 years and had a lot of fun with it, and used it at Goodwood as a static display for several years. Since having the power steering rack fitted it steers and handles a lot better, it's a much better system than the Jaguar/ Daimler option of a power steering box which is far too light and gives no road feel. The car benefits with an upgrade of electrically adjustable Jaguar leather front seats (originally fitted in an XJ 40) which suit the car very well. This looks like a Coombes Jaguar but the Daimler version which of course was never made. Performance wise it's not far behind a 3. 4 Jaguar as the Daimler engine which was designed by Edward Turner is designed to rev, and with the manual gearbox you can keep the engine revs up, but the automatic gearbox does not allow the engine to rev and perform properly. The wire wheels have been powder coated body colour which suits the car. New front springs have just been fitted, recent rolling road tune and Diff rebuild. The paintwork is pretty good with one or two very small blemishes, the chrome is in reasonable condition, its all original. The original bonnet and front seats, spare overdrive unit, original steering wheel, standard steel wheels and hubs and hubcaps are included. This is a good usable classic sports saloon that discreetly stands out from the crowd.
