Historical facts abaout this 1974 Land Rover Series III SWB
The "Land Rover Series" is the retrospective designation for a series of off-road vehicles made by the British manufacturer Rover, which later developed into the independent Land Rover brand. The first Land Rover built from 1948 onwards, originally intended as a work vehicle for agriculture and forestry, was only retrospectively designated as Series I in 1958, at the time when Series II was introduced. In 1971 the Series III followed, which corresponds to the Land Rover offered here. The Series III was offered with 2 wheelbases, in the version 88 (2. 235mm SWB - Short Wheel Base) and 109 (2. 769mm LWB / Long Wheel Base). The fully synchronized gearbox, which is installed from this series on, should be emphasized.
