With a robust aircraft engineering background, the motor cars that flowed from the Armstrong-Siddeley works were of high quality and fine engineering, and can still be enjoyed today, offering excellent value. The 346 was powered by a 3435cc straight six engine and could be specified with a Rolls-Royce four speed automatic gearbox. The Sphinx mascot could part the air at a dizzy 100mph in twin carburettor form. Comfort was assured by a high-quality leather interior and walnut fascia and door cappings.
This very smart Sapphire 346 was first registered in Wiltshire and in recent times has been used as a wedding car in Devon. The coachwork is honestly described as having some imperfections but we understand the underside to be in good condition. The interior has recently been reupholstered in magnolia vinyl. Due to a change in circumstances, the Armstrong has not been used for some months and therefore we would recommend a recommissioning service to be carried out. The motor car starts and runs, the four speed automatic transmission performs as it should, and there are no known issues with the striking looking Sapphire.
The V5C registration certificate, invoices and the handbook are included in the sale.
