1955 Triumph TR2. Red with tan interior and a black hood. Original UK RHD car with commission number TS8180 'O' with build date 14th September 1955.
A right-hand drive home market car, the car left the factory with a host of options including wire wheels, a heater, and competition front and rear springs. Delivered to Standard Triumph dealer SH Ransomes located in Corporation St, Coventry just a few miles away from the factory. It is assumed from the available history that the car stayed in Coventry for its’ early life; there is a letter on file showing that it was bought in April 1969 by Mr E Osmond, of Allesley, Coventry. This time just a mile from the factory.
Mr Osmond sold the car to Mr Jenkins in September 1970. There is a gap in the history file but it is believed that the car changed hands again in 1982 with single ownership between 1982 and 2002. This owner carried out some light restoration.
Bought by Mr Bernard Bailey in 2002 the car then received a full restoration over two years. The rebuild included re-painting the body and re-trimming the interior. A full engine strip and re-build, new wheels and tyres, brake overhaul, and new aluminium fuel tank are all detailed in the history file.
In August 2009 the previous owner Mr Brian James (Brian James Trailers) purchased the car and has used it sparingly since. The MOT in 2004 shows the mileage as 22064 with the car now still only showing 22404 although the history file can not warrant this mileage from new. The car in Mr James ownership was always dry stored and had light recommissioning at 22401 miles. This car is an older restoration which shows it is standing the test of time, she is not concours but she is a good solid useable classic with a lovely patina which drove just as she should on test drive firing straight up on the push of a button. This is a vehicle that any enthusiast would be very proud to own and enjoy. MOT and tax exempt. Absolutely any inspection is welcome. All major debit cards accepted. Free U. K mainland delivery.
