The Austin A30 was unveiled to a much anticipating Public at the 1951 Earls Court Motor Show (for the princely sum of £507!) and was a significant model in the companies history being one of the first models launched in the new post second World War era. It was billed as “The New Austin 7” (and certainly its tiny size was very 7 akin) and as a direct competitor to the still fresh at the time Morris Minor.

The A30 featured beautifully curved styling by an in house design team and was of fully monocoque construction which at the time was still a relatively modern concept. It was certainly envisaged that it would be a no frills motoring experience with such frivolities as a passenger sun visor and a heater being firmly confined to the options list as was (believe it or not!) initially a passenger side wiper!

At launch there was only a 4 door saloon available but this was quickly followed by a 2 door, a van, and a countryman estate. This was the first outing of the staggeringly good all new “A Series” engine which went on to power a whole raft of models all the way up until the early 2000s. This little gem of an engine requires no introduction …..

The A35 replaced the A30 in 1956 having sold nearly 224, 000 units but its the A30 that is now the rarer and more sought after car and seen as having more charming features such as the dinky little rear window and the famous and much loved traficator indicators.

Bradley James Projects are delighted to offer you a very rare chance to own what can only be described as a super rock solid A30 Project which is a much deserving candidate to be fully restored and put back on the road once more. The car looks remarkably complete (albeit in a certain degree of dismantlement) and looks to have been fully painted at some stage in its long hibernation. The car also benefits from having been fully undersealed at some stage and it does look a very solid project.

Make no mistake the car requires to be fully restored: it will not be a case of popping in fresh fuel, hooking up a new battery, and instantly making your way down to a local classic car show. Rather what we have here is the chance to embark upon a fun project that will pass many a golden hour in the garage and see the owner eventually thoroughly rewarded with a little Gem of an “Austin of England” A30. The registration number of VAS853 could be worth as much as the car in itself.

There is a full walk round in depth video on youtube giving a good idea to the cars condition.

A rare chance to own one of these as they do not come up for sale in any guise these days particularly often, we would absolutely love to see this one restored, back on the road, and gracing any classic car show showcasing all your efforts and hard work.

Full competitively priced transport can be arranged anywhere.
