This is a 1954 350cc Manx Norton, updated to 1960 specification. Built in 1980-81 by Graham Bentman (IoM TT racer 1973-1985) and subsequently raced in the 1984 Historic TT as well as ridden in the TT Lap of Honour parades of 1982 and \'83.

About Graham Bentman
Graham Bentman campaigned Manx Nortons in the British road racing scene in the early 1970s (after making his debut in road racing in 1967 on a homebuilt 500cc Triton). After qualifying for his national licence through BMCRC (Bemsee) events at Brands Hatch, Lydden and Snetterton (and others) he advanced to the isle of Man for the 1970 Manx GP. With his 500cc Manx Norton he placed 22nd in the Senior Manx GP (second best newcomer). He returned in 1971 and raced his 500cc Manx to 20th in the Senior Manx and raced a borrowed 350cc Manx Norton in the Junior Manx TT but did not finish. In 1972 he took a 500cc Hi-Tac Suzuki to the Manx but the bike seized on the Sulby Straight on the first lap, causing him to crash at an estimated 130mph. He was lucky to only break an arm. He returned to the Isle of Man in 1973 for the TT, riding again his Suzuki and a John Stewart Developments 750cc Norton Commando – this year he co-starred with JPS Norton\'s Peter Williams in a BBC documentary \'Race of the Powerbikes\' – a film that contrasted the lives of the professional and amateur racers. It was not a successful year for Graham, but he returned to the TT again and again through to 1985, collecting silver replicas for best placings of 4th and twice 8th in subsequent races.

About this 350cc Manx Norton
Graham always regretted selling his 500cc Manx Norton in the early 1970s, so in the late 1970s decided to build one for classic parades and races. He was very active in classic bike restoration at this time, working with his good friend Colin French in restoring classic, vintage and veteran motorcycles. This bike came together in 1980 from parts the pair assembled and the engine was rebuilt by the late Phil Kettle (renowned Manx tuner, who built all the engines for Graham\'s racing Manx Nortons in the 1970s). The completed bike featured in the Norton Owners Club calendar and was shown in concours type events a few times but was intended to be run. It was then successfully run in the 1982 and 1983 TT Lap(s) of Honour and then with the addition of the Peel \'Mountain Mile\' fairing entered into the 1984 Historic TT. Sadly, this resulted in a non-finish when an exhaust bracket fractured. With Graham retiring from road racing in 1985, the Manx (but for an occasional run at his local Pembrey circuit) was also retired and has resided in his home office since.

Comes with - The bikes Peel ‘Mountain Mile’ fairing as used in the 84 Historic TT.
