The first true four-seater Lamborghini was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1968. Named Espada and designed by Marcello Gandini at Bertone, it was positioned between the 2 + 2 Islero and the already legendary Miura. It was at that time the fastest four-seater car in the world with 325 horses under the endless bonnet. In November 1969, the Espada Series II was launched, with modifications to the dashboard, better brakes and the max power went up to 350bhp. Presented at the Turin Show in 1972, the Series III brought many improvements, including a very useful power steering in series production, a more conventional dashboard and new wheels. Produced at just 1224 units in all versions until the end of 1978, the Espada is an exclusive, powerful and stylish car.
The car on offer is an example of the last version of the Espada , that is to say of the Series 3, which is the most successful. Its first owner is none other than a famous nightclub owner. He bought it new from the importer in France and did not register it in Andorra until November 9, 1993. In 2007, he decided to have the mechanicals restored at P3 Automobiles, the brand's recognized specialist in Cannes.

Engine, gearbox and axle were thus dismantled and rebuilt, as well as external components such as carburetors, clutch, brakes and air-conditioning. The paint was also redone. On the other hand, the splendid original black leather interior has been preserved as its condition was and is still satisfactory. Iin the passenger compartment only the carpets were changed, as well as all the gaskets. The bill for the work amounted to nearly € 37, 000 when the car came out of P3 Automobiles in 2013 with 70, 921 km on the odometer. It then passed into the hands of a prominent Parisian collector, who had an overhaul after running-in and some additional work carried out at Automobile TS, also a renowned specialist of the brand. Its current owner acquired it in February 2015 as part of our Retromobile sale, captivated by the quality of the car. However, the opportunities to drive this sculpture of a car were rare, as the car now displays a bare 74, 400 km and has spent most of the last few years preserving this magnificent Espada.
This is an exceptional model to drive, the first true four-seater reaching 300 km/ h. This is a splendid example that we recommend highly.

The vehicles in this collection have been stored in perfect conditions but little used over the past few years. We therefore advise buyers that they are sold 'as is', some of them without a safety inspection ('contrôle technique', 'MOT' ), and should be given a general service before being driven any distance.
