1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SL Pagoda - SOLD, Another Wanted!!!

This is a wanted advert, please only contact if you are selling the listed vehicle/item(s)
This stunning Mercedes-Benz 280SL really ticks all the right boxes! It comes in the desirable specification of a UK-supplied right hand drive 280SL, fitted with an automatic gearbox with power-steering.

First registered on the 16th September 1969 to Mr Donald Mattocks in Thames Ditton, Surrey, this car was to remain in his family for the next 45 years, ownership having passed to his daughter in 1989. She sold the car in 2014 to an old client who kept it for two years before selling it to us in 2016.

In 2017 the car was subject to a no expense spared cosmetic restoration, by all the right people, in its rather stunning factory colour scheme of DB571 Metallic Red with Tan Leather. The car is fitted with a Black Soft top, as per the data card and has a matching hardtop, fitted with tinted glass and roof rails.

Sold by ourselves to the previous owner in 2017, we’re delighted to have it back. In his ownership it has covered less than 300 miles, whilst being stored and maintained perfectly. Needless to say, it looks as good today as the day we sold it!

Externally this car still presents like new, with beautiful paintwork to an exceptional standard, with good panel gaps all over. All the chromework was refinished, which really lifts the car and looks great against the deep red paintwork.

This car has had a complete hardtop restoration, which in itself is no small feat, included new paintwork, chrome work, hardtop roof rails, leather and headlining, all in the factory colours.

Inside the car has had a complete re-trim in Tan leather, replacing its original, but matching MB Tex. New correct German weave two tone loop carpets feature throughout and the dash wood work has been beautifully refurbished. Hidden inertia seat belts in matching coloured webbing were installed and a period Becker Europa radio with electric Hirschmann aerial completes the wonderful interior.

However, perhaps the most stunning feature is the totally detailed engine bay, truly a work of art and perhaps better than the day it left the factory?!

It has its original book pack in the rare plastic wallet, but a special mention must be made of the history file. We have a thread of registration documents, old service invoices detailing the work carried out since the 80's, a raft of old MOT certificates going back to 1980 and the factory data card. This car has now had just four owners from new and covered a mere 44, 800 miles.

Also accompanying the car is the über rare factory toolkit and the two soft top levers in the original black case. It has just received a service and check over by Pagoda experts Roger Edwards Motors.
