1933 MG L2 Restoration Project Matching Numbers For Sale

The L2 is one of the rarest MG models with only 90 examples produced, the L2 was a genuine two seater sports car with same the crossflow six cylinder 1100cc engine used in the K-Type. Fewer than 50 of these cars are believed to have survived.

The original engine block is with the car (matching numbers) but is sadly in need of repair. The previous owner decided to upgrade the car with a later genuine MG KD block (slightly higher 1271cc capacity) which fits the original L-Type cylinder head. The engine is only is loosely assembled and needs overhauling. The original crank has been welded back to standard, ground and crack tested.

The car has been partially restored with a new Steve Gilbert body tub, the bonnet tops are original to the car (numbered) and two new sides are present although not pictured. The panels are in generally good condition with only minor repairs / fettling required. The petrol tank is also new from Steve Gilbert.

The car is known to the MG MMM Register and comes with it's proper chassis file. I'd be happy to assist any prospective purchaser in acquiring a new V5. Hopefully the pictures largely speak for themselves, please do feel free to call with any queries. The car can be viewed near Grantham, Lincolnshire UK.
