A bit of a long story here! Back a year or so ago i decided to restore a 74 TX/ XS 500 to the same spec as the bike i owned when i was 17, yep we all know that one. I actually purchased this particular bike to help with that restoration by giving up some of its original parts. Well it arrived and to be honest, i just couldn't do it, it was so original and nice that it would of been just wrong to take it to pieces! So i decided to "revive" this one as well once we had time.
Well the time came and here it is. Its very very original, starts on the button and rides very well. While no these old twins are not the quietest of engines, it pulls well, gearbox is as Yamaha intended and every thing works as it should apart from both the clocks that are a bit "lazy" but are improving each time its ridden, especially the tacho
Cosmetics are very good, especially when you factor in their age but having spent its life in the USA, no nasty corrosion. Yes there is the odd mark here and there but its not new.
Priced at less that a pile of boxes with the remnants of an FS1E in them, these great bikes have to be one of the best buys on the 70’s Jap bike market today and more rare than some that are 5 times their price, figure that??
