1982 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV6 3.5 For Sale

Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV6 3. 5 conversion. This is an incredibly rare opportunity to own such a special car with all the ‘right’ upgrades, the first time a 3. 5 modified GTV6 has come on the market in the UK for 11 years! This particular car is quite well known in Alfa circles. She was the first 3. 5 GTV6 conversion built at Alex Jupe Motorsport way back in 2003/ 4. A long term Alfa owner friend of my family said he was finally ready to take the plunge and build his ‘dream car’ having wanted a GTV6 built to his own specification for some years. I sourced a bodily sound LHD GTV6, which fitted the bill perfectly as regular trips to Europe were planned. A Safety Devices roll cage had already been fitted, but she was in need of recommissioning and some cosmetic tidying up. The following work was then carried out over approximately 15 months.

1. Strip down to a bare shell.

2. Localised metal work repairs followed by a complete repaint, including the engine bay.

3. Waxoyl to underside and cavities.

4. Complete strip down of suspension, all components shot blasted & powder coated or replated then rebuilt with all new ball joints, bearings and bushes as required then a full RS Racing coil over handling kit and uprated front Anti-roll bar fitted.

5. Rebuilt Alfa 75 Twin Spark gearbox with LSD and speedo conversion.

6. Alfa 75 3. 0 donor engine stripped down and converted to 3. 5 with gas flowed cylinder heads, C&B fast road cams, large bore intake runners ported to match the heads, forged pistons, balanced bottom end with lightened flywheel, OMEX 710 programmable ECU. This combination produced 248bhp.

7. AJM Brembo brake kit with 320mm discs with aluminium bells and 4-piston callipers.

8. Compomotive RH 3-piece split rim wheels custom made in 7×16 with graphite grey centres.

9. Sparco Evo bucket seats with 4-point harnesses.

10. Rear seat area trimmed in carpet and custom rear interior side panels to ‘civilise’ the inteior.

11. Bumpers removed and body modified to delete the large holes for the original mounting points, GRP lower rear valance panel (a copy of that originally fitted to the earlier stainless steel bumper GTV) bonded in to complete the rear end.

Following all this the car was used extensively, as intended, over the next 10 years or so completing numerous sorties to Europe to take part in track days at the Nurburgring, annual trips to watch the LeMans 24Hr race, a 2010 trip back ‘home’ to Italy for the 100th Anniversary of Alfa Romeo celebrations along with track days and back road blasts here in the UK.

In 2013 approximately £12, 000 was spent on a major service and more notably some extensive body restoration which included replacement of the R/ H outer and inner sill, lower wing bottoms and front inner wing area, repairs to the L/ H A-pillar and wing and the scuttle panel. Following the repair work both sides of the car were repainted.

She then continued to be used and enjoyed taking the mileage since the 2003/ 4 build up to around 17, 500. With other things going on in 2018/ 19 she did very little, then of course the pandemic hit. Roll forward to 2021 and the owner decided as he approaches retirement to slim down his fleet of Alfas and after much deliberation decided his GTV6 is one of those that should find a new home.

With that in mind following the period of inactivity he commissioned the following to be carried out, wanting to know she was in the best possible condition to start a new life elsewhere.

A trim off, screens out repaint to correct the slight mismatch in the colour from the 2014 body work and rectify the stone chips etc picked up from an active life.
Following that Alex Jupe Motorsport then carried out a major service including replacement of the cam belt, water pump all fluids and filters.
Deep cleaning of the underside and treating it with Dinitrol 4125/ CAR underbody wax.
Extensive detailing to the engine bay and underside.
A fresh MOT with no advisories was issued to make her ready for the road again.
She will also be supplied with 4 new tyres fitted as, while in perfectly good condition and with good tread depth, the current ones are dated 2011 so are really too old and hard for active use.

She now presents superbly and is a very quick and capable road and/ or track day weapon, fit for comfortably transporting you to the circuit, blatting around all day then back home again, simply enjoying local back roads or, being LHD perfectly suited to trips abroad back across the Alps to the Italian lakes. She comes complete with an extensive A4 ring bound history file from the past 18 years ownership documenting work, old MOT’s, photos of both the build and then at various places from her colourful and exciting life. Also in the file is a copy of Auto Italia magazine in which she was a cover feature car in 2009.
