1997 Dax Kamala Kit Car/ Race Car- Rebuilt! New Race engine For Sale

I have owned this car since 2011. Originally the car was built by Dax for the original owner, with the exception of the engine which he had built and fitted. All rolling chassis assembly and body fitment was undertaken by the Dax factory.

About 6 years ago I decided it needed a full refresh and a more powerful race focused engine. This various work was undertaken by several respectable engineering shops, details shown below.

New engine was built at that time by
Stanwood Engineering (well known Formula Ford race zetec builders)
Fully built race zetec silvertop engine
Forged Wossner Pistons
Forged Farndon conrods.
ARP bolts.
Area six ported and polished cylinder head.
Area six double valve springs
Race bearings
All new engine parts, seals, water pump etc etc
Less than 100 miles on the engine since new (it was new until it was mapped by Bailey Performance).

Other Parts

Tubular Exhaust Manifold
New Turbonetics T3/ T4 hybrid good for 450hp ish
Facet lift pump
Bosch 044 fuel pump
Fuel swirl pot
All new fuel lines etc
All new engine loom (Bailey performance made and fitted)
New radiators, fans etc
Siemens 650 cc injectors
Custom fuel rail
Custom inlet plenum
Custom gearshift cable conversion with Cable Tec cables and rose jointed assembly by Red Seven engineering.
Full MS 2 standalone ECU installation and full wiring loom + lots of other work (like base map and Dyno tuning) by the legend Dale at Bailey Performance
Focus RS gearbox
Focus RS Sachs uprated clutch (not a paddle so its useable)
Cosworth Brakes (calipers and discs)
MOT until July 2022
Stack digital speedometer (the old gearbox was cable drive)
All new wiring from battery to engine bay, new fuse box, relay setup etc
Rear tube chassis stripped and recoated with POR15
Front suspension, stripped and powder coated.

I have spent over £17, 000 in the last two years on this car at various specialist build shops and tuners , in parts, labour, etc Garage De Los Muertos did a lot of fabrication , wiring and refurb work, intercooler fabrication, front suspension refurb, downpipe, custom intercooler setup (two), new engine and gearbox fitment (All new wiring was also done like main power cables, fusebox, relay boxes, Power isolators added (2 of one in the engine bay and one in the cockpit) etc prior to fitting the new engine.

This does not include the very significant amount of time I have put into the car myself!

The engine build cost about £5000 included forged internals and machining work and all parts and labour
I also bought a new turbo, exhaust manifold which was over £1000 (£700 for the new turbo £400 for tubular exhaust manifold) plus new 650cc Siemens injectors, new fuel pumps, all braided lines, custom plenum made, Focus RS gearbox and new uprated clutch etc

All of the rear tube chassis has been prepped and repainted in POR15, all suspension parts stripped and powder coated as part of a full refurb.

Most recent round of work has been done by the talented Richard of Red Seven Engineering. He has done the gearshifter linkage for the now centrally mounted shifter (it was mounted on the right previously) and loads of other jobs including upgrading the coolant system to an optimum setup, refitting all the parts that were removed to do this and loads of other smaller jobs.

The car has approx 7100 miles currently. The new engine has done less than 100 miles since built, as I have only driven it a bit since it was mapped and back on the road, due to lack of time and enthusiasm.

The car is registered as a Dax Kamala on the logbook.

The car is mapped currently to 280hp as the boost is limited to 14psi until I have put some more miles on the engine. Once the car has done a few hundred miles the boost can be turned up and with current setup it should make 350hp-400hp no problem. The current turbo is good for 450hp but you may need different cams. It is however, very fast as it is weighing only 750kg. The Car has been specced and built to run 400hp + reliably.

The car is as expected a show stopper, great promo car or if you just like going fast and everyone looking at you... it literally draws crowds in some situations, and in the flesh it does look amazing.
I have no time now to enjoy it and fancy something a bit less savage as I am less youthful than I was when I bought it originally so have made the decision it has to go.

The asking price is £20750 ono
