Olive is a World War II Austin Seven Military Reconnaisance Tourer and although very small, this little car has great presence and personality!
It is believed that in 1944 several of these little cars were transported by glider across the English channel towed by bomber aircraft from an airfield near the south coast and released over occupied northern France for reconnaissance purposes.
The vintage Austin has undergone a total bodywork and mechanical restoration using original and reconditioned parts to the specifications of drawings, sketches and verbal information given to the owner.
The two seater 750cc 7hp vehicle features a .303 caliber Bren machine gun mounted on a wooden platform in-place of the rear seats. Firearm certification is supplied in the form of a deactivation receipt together with correspondence from Dorset Police.
The vehicle also features a period radio transmitter, field telephone, morse code unit & Walter the carrier pigeon.
Affectionately named 'Olive' after her shade of olive green paint, the 1935 reconnaissance war machine features cartoons of ‘Popeye’s’ girlfriend 'Olive Oyl' painted on each side of her bonnet with the slogan 'Olive sez 1935'.
She makes an appearance in the latest two hundred dollar movie, Murder on the Orient Express too!
Having only one passenger seat Olive is only suitable for transporting the Groom, Best Man or Birthday recipient! She also has a very loud Klaxon Horn to warn the guests of their departure and arrival.
She could be the perfect vehicle for those planning a real 'shotgun wedding'!
Olive does not have a hood but British Army capes and helmets are stowed away in case of rain!
Weddings within a radius of 10 miles are £325 inclusive and details given upon request.
She has a custom built trailer for travelling further afield, with rates that are negotiable.
Olives’ Surprise Birthday and Anniversary trips, have her driven around the historic and picturesque Dorset Village of Holdenhurst near Bournemouth, by her suitably 1940’s Army Officer attired owner!
Holdenhurst Village, with its thatched cottages and original historic Gas Lamps makes for a superb nostalgic experience aboard Olive, with trips lasting approx 20 minutes and taking in the ajoining and picturesque village of Throop.
The Birthday or Anniversary Surprise costs just £125 around Holdenhurst with Static Displays around the UK £500 plus travel costs!
Due to the popularity of this little vehicle, you are advised to make inquiries far in advance.
