MGB GT ~ Exceptional Specification ~ SOLD (1967)
|This MGB GT is a superb example having undergone a previous substantial restoration to an excellent standard.|
It was restored in the 1990's by MG Mecca and invoices in the history file show that this was at at a cost of over £15000.
Its last owner acquired the car in 2010 and has since maintained and improved it without regard to cost as shown by the many recent invoices in the history file which total more than £6000.
The specification is superb.
The engine is a lightened and balanced MG Mecca 2000cc fast road engine with an unleaded cylinder head and fast road camshaft with MGOC twin SU HS6 special tune carburettors and manifold assembly.
It has a MGOC 43D4 performance distributor, a recentley fitted under bonnet mounted high pressure Facet fuel pump and pressure regulator, Kenlowe fan and has been converted to an alternator, single 12 volt battery and negative earth. The alternator and battery having being recently renewed.
The manual gearbox has overdrive on third and fourth which was rebuilt during the restoration and is operated using a dash mounted overdrive switch.
The exhaust is a stainless steel Arbarth style twin sports exhaust with a wonderful throaty sound.
It has chrome wire wheels, upgraded suspension and the brakes have been upgraded with a brake servo. The petrol tank is stainless steel and the bonnet is alloy with leather bonnet straps.
The upgraded reclining seats are finished in black leather with red piping and the dash and door cappings are finished in walnut.
Recent expenditure includes new starter motor, new clutch master cylinder, new electronic ignition and new rear springs.
The current MOT runs until October 2016 and the car will be licensed for twelve months from the date of sale for the new owner at no cost as the car qualifies for the Historic Taxation class.
The large history file contains the current V5, a previous V5, a number of previous MOT certificates, several insurance valuation certificate and the dozens of invoices for parts and work completed that total over £23000.
The headline of the 2nd July 2014 edition of Classic Car Weekly reported that there was an acute shortage of good MGBs and their values will continue to rise as buyers realise what good value these cars are compared to other classic British sports cars. This is now proving to be correct.
