History:
In 1989 Lamborghini Automobili S.p.A. ordered Carrozzeria Bartoletti to construct a 2-race car enclosed transporter with team accommodation facilities. In turn Bartoletti selected its Jumbo 2-axle semitrailer as basis for all custom modifications. This 12 meter long coach was partitioned to a 2-race car loading and storage section in the rear, a parts section in the middle and a living quarters section in the front. The later included a living room with Lamborghini insignia seating, Webasto heating and A/C climate control, folding table and several dressing and other cabinets, raising curtains, a fully equipped kitchenette and a shower. The roof was made semitransparent at its posterior permitting natural light illumination of the car storage section. The roof's anterior was used for satellite communication infrastructure and additional seating for superior view. The transporter's lateral aspects were used for additional storage space, energy and water supply apparatuses as well as a tent providing 6x12sq.m. of shade. According to Bartoletti's records' keeper, the final product was completed by Lamborghini's input and subsequent assistance.
In 1991 the finished transporter was registered in Modena as ‘MO*02439' under ‘Lamborghini Engineering'. Thereon it was used for several local Countach and Diablo transports until 1994 when it made its first public appearance. At the time Lamborghini was developing its famous V12 petrol engine for offshore boat racing. Lamborghini's team used the transporter to participate in the 1994 Class 1 World Offshore Powerboat race in Dubai where it won the world championship for the first time in history with Norberto Ferretti of Forli (the boatbuilder himself) as the driver and Luca Ferrari as his copilot. The transporter was never to be seen again only to be sold in 2001 to a Lamborghini collector in Athens, Greece. In 2002 the transporter was imported, registered and stored in Athens. In 2006 it was offered as a display at a private exhibition of Lamborghinis amongst other exotics.
