The Dino is a car produced by FIAT sport between 1966 and 1972.
The Dino was born from an agreement between Fiat and Ferrari, signed for the need of the Maranello company to quickly build a sufficient number of Dino engines (so called because they derived from a project of 1956dello disappeared son of Enzo Ferrari, Alfredo, said Dino) to obtain approval in Formula 2 Ferrari Dino 166 F2.
So, next to the most expensive Dino 206 GT, it was the deliberate production of more affordable (though still expensive) versions brand FIAT. In fact, the technical sharing between the "Dino" Ferrari and the Fiat was limited to the V6 engine.
The Dino 206 GT were not marketed under the brand Ferrari, but with Dino trademark without written or Ferrari on the engines or on the hoods and without the prancing horse, which were reserved for the Ferrari 12-cylinder.

The FIAT model, however, the technical approach was totally different and rather classic: front-engine, rear-wheel drive, front axle with independent wheel double wishbone, rear suspension axle, manual 5-speed gearbox and disc brakes (with brake assist) on all wheels. The first "Dino" FIAT was to be presented in the spring of 1966, the Spider, a two-seater designed by Pininfarina and not without aesthetic similarities with Ferrari models (and it was no coincidence, given that stemmed from some sketches the designer had presented just to the Maranello company). In addition to the Pininfarina design he was also in charge of building the model at its facilities .
The exuberant and cranky of 1987 cc V6 engine, all-aluminum and equipped with distribution to 4 overhead camshafts (two per bank), put in crisis the rear. Lots of power (160 hp at 7200 rev / min) delivered in less linear fashion, the short wheelbase (2256 mm) and the archaic rear suspension geometry, made the Dino a very nervous car. In addition, the aluminum base of the V6 suffered from the rapid changes in temperature, which tended to deform the cylinder liners.
