ROVER P5B V8 COUPE - RESTORATION PROJECT - GREAT VALUE ! SOLD (1968)
|This car is a 1968 Rover P5B Coupe in Silver Birch with a Burnt Grey roof. It has had just two owners from new – the last since 1992. The mileage reading is 27,000 which think is correct; there are a few old MOT’s and the oldest shows 19,000 in 1983.|
It has been dry-stored for the last 15 years and is best described as a straightforward restoration project. A new battery is fitted, it is running and driving and the engine runs well (although it will need an engine service) and the auto-box and power steering are working as they should but there are no brakes.
The underside is generally solid but there is some welding required(see additional photos)
N/S inner to outer wing area (see pictures) around jacking point.
O/S inner to outer wing area around jacking point (smaller repair)
Boot floor to inner wheel-arch (small repair)
Also the brakes need attention - the master cylinder requires overhaul and the system will require flushing and bleeding..
The upper body is presentable but there are various minor bubbles and scabs, the chrome on the front and rear bumpers is poor and there are one or two bits of bright-work missing.
With various cars in work at the moment we have decided to offer this Rover for sale as a project. If it fails to sell here (which we doubt at this price) we intend to continue the re-furbishment. Our estimate to make it roadworthy is £500 - £800 but please make your own mind up.
There are one or two bits of history and some spares but no V5. We have HPI’d it and printed a V62 but not applied in order to preserve the low ownership.
Decent P5B Coupes now start at £10k to £15k and excellent cars are £25k or more. Clearly this one is represents an opportunity.
