This unique outfit has a VOC authenticated white shadow engine, one of only 17 built, and a history set out by VOC. It is very nicely restored and had a full engine rebuild by the owner before last with a listing of parts renewed. Largely stainless fasteners replace originals, with very good chrome & paintwork, particularly the tank, & a new seat. The sidecar has been back to metal 2 years ago & rebuilt to my own 'Goodwood' style spec., copper lined, with bomber nose art evocative of world war 2. The hydrolastic independant sidecar body suspension (for which 'swallow sidecars' were famed) is redoubled with an airbag for additional boyancy. Its a fabulous ride, with sidecar gearing & 'reversed girdraulic front fork cams', a cleverly designed HRD feature to increase front fork spring tension, thus improving handling in sidecar use. Even with a heavy weight passenger, the handling is spectacular, also largely enhanced by the braked sidecar wheel. I ride this outfit often in the best summer months.
Coming from the rarest of Vincent's historic production models, this white shadow will for those seeking to own it, make an exciting embodyment of historic Vincent racing & record breaking. All documents including the works sheet for the white shadow as originally dispacheded are present & correct. This is not a matching numbers machine, but is well known to VOC, & there is correspondence with the VOC registrar authenticating its history on file.
The owner would also consider an exchange WHY?
whilst only those seeking to make an offer near the asking price need apply.
This immaculate series B Rapide was subject to a complete rebuild by a marque specialist in 2015 and UK road registered. Built in 1949 and bearing the HRD logos it was one of the last batch of bikes.....
