FORD 10 CX De Luxe Tudor Saloon SOLD (1936)
|This classic Ford 10 CX De Luxe is in remarkable condition for a car that is 80 years old.|
It has only had four individual owners in it's long life and has covered a genuine 65455 miles. The ownership history shows a higher number of owners but one gentleman has owned it three times.
It was acquired from its first long term owners in the early 1980's by "Gordon Ford" the Ford main dealers in Stockport as they were establishing, under their Mr Redfern, a small department to restore classic cars and this car was to be used as an example of their high quality work.
It was fully stripped to the last nut and bolt and fully rebuilt to its original condition. The shell was in such excellent condition that it did not need any welding whatsoever. It was completely rewired by a time served pre-war car electrician and the engine was fully reconditioned. The interior was completely re-upholstered in correct cord trim and the body received six coats of paint. It then stood at the dealership to showcase their restoration skills.
When Gordon Ford was taken over, the car was sold in 1988 to a private collector who laid the car up during his three years of ownership.
In 1991, Mr Redfern bought a small Ford dealership in Leek naming it "Redfern Ford" and re-purchased this 10 CX from the collector. It remained in his ownership for the next 21 years and during this time was taken to various shows where it was much admired. In 2007 it won its class at a Mark Woodward event and was invited to attend their "Champion of Champions" show at Uttoxeter race course.
In 2013 Mr Redfern sold it to an enthusiast in Leicestershire with a small collection of Fords. This enthusiast collected the car from a showroom in Oldham where it had been on display for 18 months and drove it home to Leicestershire without incident.
Since then it has appeared at the Birmingham Classic Car Show and has been driven to numerous other shows throughout the country.
It is now only for sale as the enthusiast has limited storage space and has managed to acquire a very rare convertible Ford 10 CX to replace this saloon car.
Although the car is now MOT exempt as it was manufactured prior to 1960, it has an MOT until October 2017 and the 12 months Free Historic Road Tax can be arranged for the new owner if required.
The history file contains the complete DVLA ownership history, letters from the gentleman who has owned it for the majority of the past 33 years, old MOT certificates, previous tax discs, show passes, valuation certificates and a number of invoices.
The car still retains it's original valuable transferable registration number CAU392 and this is included in the selling price. We hope that the buyer retains the number on the car as to remove it would be a sacrilege.
This car needs to be seen in person to appreciate how good it is.
