An elegant Porsche Boxster 986 with 39,158 miles and exceptional history.
Sports chassis, rigidly tuned springs, shock absorbers and stabiliser bars, Porsche Side Impact Protection System (POSIP), roll-over protection, dual cargo areas, electric convertible top. Factory options; Wind deflector, windshield green graduated tint, automatic climate control, CDR-22 sound system, CD compartment, power seat adjustment, memory seats, graphite alcantara seat inlays.
Inspired by the iconic 550 Spyder, the Porsche Boxster encapsulates the Porsche ideology perfectly with the primary emphasis to focus purely on the driver. Finished in Porsche Black (code L741), the paintwork boasts a uniform finish with only minor imperfections visible to close inspection. The curvaceous lines are accentuated by the black paintwork and all trim sections and badges are in good order. The UV-resistant hood is damage free and a clear rear screen is in line with the cars low mileage credentials. An excellent useable example with none of the Porsche magic lost.
Quality and exemplary craftsmanship as expected from Porsche in this well-appointed interior, factory specified to a high standard. Arranged with ergonomic design in the forefront, driver enjoyment, comfort and fatigue prevention is prioritised making the Boxster a true drivers car. The half leather seats with factory optional Graphite Alcantara inlays (Code A1) have remained in beautifully clean condition with only light bobbling to the driver’s seat base. All controls and functions operate perfectly with just a small area of the LCD display having failed, away from the readings and therefore largely inconsequential. The Arctic Silver gear knob has rubbed through slightly. Both front and rear cargo areas are spotless and reflect the minimal use. The bonnet lid and rear hatch lid respectively still have the original factory option sticker and Mobil 1 sticker attached. Effortless folding of the electric hood transforms this every day roadster ready for open top enjoyment and exhilaration.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the robust flat six Porsche Boxer Engine and controlled by the Motronic ME 7.2 engine management system, Porsche Engineers developed 220hp from the 2,687 cc unit to allow 0-62mph in just 6.6 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph! The unmistakable punchy raw sound delivered from the exhaust system is guaranteed to stir up excitement. The 5-speed manual transmission has a short shift and is incredibly direct exactly as you would expect from Porsche.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The 16in light alloy wheels of size 6J and 7J front and rear respectively are presentable and with signs of wear visible only upon close inspection. The tyres are quality Continental Contisportcontact 205/55/ZR16 front and 225/50/ZR16 rear have masses of tread remaining. The ABS braking system incorporates 4-Wheel ventilated discs with 4-piston fixed monobloc callipers. The Porsche Black painted badged callipers are clearly visible through the spokes and hint towards the racing pedigree infused within this cars genes.
Registered new on 2nd February 2001 by Porsche Main Dealers AFN Limited, this example has covered just 39,158 miles with just two owners from new. The history file is simply outstanding with the original Porsche service booklet containing 16 stamped entries, one for each and every year without fail and leaving in no doubt the previous owner’s meticulous and non-compromising approach to vehicle maintenance. All entries are Porsche Main Dealer to 2011 with Porsche specialist companies thereafter, and the most recent was in July 2016 with less than 100 miles covered since.
Furthermore, the history file contains the supporting invoices and MOT certificates, all alongside the Porsche black leather folder containing all handbooks, guides and point of sale literature. Even the salesman’s business cards and Porsche master key remain in the folder. An excellent example of this much revered roadster.
MOT December 2017, HPI Clear.
