Very original rust free and unmolested early production California wire wheel car, build date January 1969.
I purchased the car in 2002 when I was living in California and stored it in the back of my workshop, I imported it into the UK last year after moving back here.
These early cars are becoming highly desirable and being a very early USA export car it has very few differences from the home market version, these being, Stromberg carbs, compression ratio, and longer (deeper) bumper brackets which are easily altered to home market specs.
The car was stored off road for 30 years and at some point the cylinder head was removed, rebuilt but never reinstalled. I have installed the rebuilt cylinder head, replaced the rear silencer which had rotted through with a new mild steel one. I have replaced the water pump and the rotted original cooling hoses with the correct original style green hoses and wire clamps.
The engine runs well and the car drives, all hydraulics are working.
I have replaced the rear wheel cylinders, shoes and soft hoses. I have also replaced the rear trailing arm bushes and spring packings with a set of urethane ones.
I have installed 5 brand new Vredestein classic road tires, with new Michelin inner tubes and rim bands.
The frame is rock solid as are the main floors, boot floor, sills, wings, (inner and outer), boot lid, bonnet.
There are a few points of corrosion that need addressing. A section of the battery tray area has corroded through due to acid contamination and requires metal letting in.
There is a small corrosion area to part of the lower LH door skin, again a very small area easily repaired by letting in a piece of metal and some corrosion to the lower portion of the front wings where they cover the sill panels, again very small areas that are easily repaired.
At some point in the past the RH front wing sustained some damage around the head light bucket area, all filler has been removed and some panel work will be required to get it back to the correct shape, although the headlamp bucket is installed. The car is now 50 yeas old and unrestored, therefore reflects its life in its bumps and light damage here and there.
At present I am continuing to work on the car as time permits, I have ordered a new gearbox cover and rear mount for the gearbox.
The car is very original, as far as I can tell most of the original factory Damson paint is hidden under what remains of the the current top coats. I have had the front wings off the car to repair a very small hole in the LH sill and to clean out the debris from the areas where the wings overlap the front of the sill panels. All the original factory welding can be seen on the sill reveals.
This is an increasingly rare opportunity to own a very early, very original and solid production TR6 that can be re-commissioned/restored and will retain very nearly 100% of all of its original mechanical parts, down to the nuts and bolts, a very rare thing indeed these days and not something that can be said for many of the restored cars on the market today.
I have now fitted the new gearbox tunnel cover,gearbox mount, new headlights and an NOS top that I purchased many years ago, it is a high quality vinyl top, the windows have suffered some slight discolouration whilst in its original box but it does not effect vision at all. I have also purchased a new windscreen seal and windscreen frame to scuttle seal.

I recently purchased the major pieces of an early 150HP injection system which is available by negotiation.
All import fees and duty are paid. Needs an MOT and then can be UK registered. I can likely arrange shipping to parts of Europe especially France for reasonable cost.
This car could be made fit to pass an MOT with a few weekends work.
