The Singer Nine was produced between 1932 – 1937 and a sports version was to appear in October 1932. The following season, one such model was to achieve thirteenth place at the Le Mans 24 hour race. In celebration of this modest success, a new two seater sports model was introduced, this being the Singer Le Mans.
The Singer Nine Le Mans was powered by the excellent 972cc overhead cam engine, in a higher state of tune than previously, and developed 34 bhp. A close ratio gearbox , underslung chassis, twin spare wheels and 12 gallon external fuel tank made for an impressive looking small sports car which was to prove highly successful in trials, hillclimbs and rallies.
The Nine Le Mans was a direct competitor to the MG Midget of the period and a friendly rivalry always existed between owners of the two makes.
This delightful example, resplendent in Oxford and Cambridge blue, underwent a major restoration which was completed around 16 years ago. Recent work has included steering box overhaul, relined rear brake shoes, replacement of the brake master cylinder, radiator repair and new rear wheel bearings and hub seals. The car has been serviced within the last 100 miles and is presented in extremely good order throughout.
Full weather equipment is included along with much paperwork.
VSCC eligible, this attractive small sportscar has great appeal.
