1969 Austin Healey Sprite Mk. IV 1275cc
Reg. no. OUF 178G
Chassis no. HAN9 77770
Engine no. 3428
The Austin Healey Sprite was introduced in 1958, initially featuring distinctive frogeye styling. In 1961, the bodywork was redesigned to give a more conventional look, and an MG version the Midget, was introduced. The MG was to prove the better seller, so in 1972 the Sprite was discontinued. All Sprites used A-Series engines, initially in 948cc form, then 1098, then finally 1275. Performance was good despite the modest power output; at 725kg, the cars were extremely light. Like their big brother the MG B, these cars have come to be regarded as prime examples of the classic British sports car.
Last taxed in 1991, this Sprite is offered as a full-on restoration project, or alternatively as a good source of spares. There is a V5c and a history file that contains a number of old MOT certificates, old tax discs and invoices for parts and work completed.
This and 90 other classic cars will be offered for auction on June 17th at Allington, near Chippenham, Wiltshire SN14 6LJ
