1965 Vanden Plas 4 Litre R Rolls Royce engine For Sale

Good all round condition for age Paint is fair but a re-spray would bring it up to concourse and probably into the £20k bracket Will come with 12 months MOT I bought this car a few years ago, as I wanted to see if classic cars were for me. With limited knowledge and limited budget I wanted:- • A good solid car, with no welding required. • No major rust • Strong bulletproof engine that would not keep breaking down. • Tidy enough to turn heads but not concourse • Something I could tinker about with and slowly bring up to standard. Well I don’t think I could have chosen a better car. Everything on this car is well engineered and well made; the 4 litre 6 cylinder Rolls Royce engine is bullet proof and runs like a dream, quiet and powerful. She steers and brakes beautiful and holds great oil pressure and good water temperature. Wherever I go in her people come up and comment how great she looks, it amazes me how many people knew someone who worked at the Kingsbury plant. The previous owner commissioned the car well after replacing the sills and quarter panels. He renewed:- • Brakes • Brake pipes • Ignition Coil • Plugs/Dizzy Cap & Rota • Fully service The car has extensive history with many bills dating back to 1965. The original bound handbook has many notes made by the original owner and is a trilling read. See Pics. There is a complete list of her history at the bottom of the page. It has original Motorola radio in working order. Is fitted with the larger 14ich wheels with new radial tyres. Full Webasto sunroof which flips back with the flick of a lever Since I have had her I have fitted:- • New manifold, new down pipe and stainless steel exhaust system. • New dynamo • Rebuilt the power steering pump • New regulator I replaced the door cards, which were made of cardboard and vinyl with marine ply and real leather. The car is by no means concourse and could do with a re-spray, she takes a good picture but in the light of day the paint does not look as good as it does in the pictures. However she is as solid as a rock, obviously there is some cosmetic rust, dents scratches as you would expect with a 50 year old car. The worst panels are the doors and should be the task for this winter. Bad points, these are the things which spring to mind by this list is by no way exhaustive:- • Could do with a re-spray to bring it up to concourse • Some stitching has undone on the seats (no rips) • Carpets could do with a good clean or replacing • Bottom part of rear and front valance is untidy. • Some of the window rubbers need replacing as its noisy at high speed. • I have the original chrome sill strips ready for fitting • And loads more small fun to do jobs Date Detail Mileage 04/03/1965 1st Owner Dr Gwenddline Edith Clayden 03/03/1966 3 New tyres 16,281 17/02/1967 New Battery n/a 11/08/1967 2 New Front Tyres (India) 36,160 12/06/1969 New Gear Box, Silencer 55,510 08/08/1969 New Battery (Everide) 56,300 08/09/1969 New Owner 56,870 09/09/1969 New Power Steering 56,870 08/06/1971 New Battery (Oldham) n/a 19/03/1972 New Pads, Discs, 2 Front Tyres (Dunlop) 69,565 08/06/1972 New Out Riggers and rust treatment 16/06/1972 New Shocks Back 07/11/1972 New Shocks Front 08/09/1973 New Battery (Speedwell) 01/11/1974 Head Overhaul 15/07/1975 New Front Wings 14/11/1976 New Battery 10/12/1976 2 New Tyres (Retreads) 86,858 01/07/1977 2 New Tyres 17/08/1978 New Sills 25/02/1979 New Battery 26/01/1981 Inner Sills Floor Section, Chassis Box Section 29/01/1981 NSF Wheel Bearing, New Rear Brake Shoes 96,197 01/11/1981 Back Silencer, New Petrol Pump, Plugs 01/12/1981 New Master Cylinder 09/07/1982 New Battery 30/07/1982 New Front Shock Absorber, New Tyres 12/10/1982 Purchased by Kathleen Sargent 17/01/1995 New battery (Powertrain) 24/07/1995 Bardfield Garage valuation 100,320 13/11/1995 New Exhaust 25/11/1995 Purchased by Philip Johnes 14/03/1996 New fuel pump 14/03/1996 Speed angle drive 30/05/1996 Brake pads 01/06/1996 2 new tyres 22/06/1996 Rear leaf springs 05/12/1996 MOT 106,810 07/12/1996 Subframe mounts,Wish bone bushes, service 106,810 26/02/1997 Service 107,741 05/09/1997 Steering box, brake pads 108,942 04/03/1998 MOT 109,332 21/08/1998 New Radiator, track rod end, 14inch wheels 08/02/2000 Purchased by Alan Coney 14/07/2011 MOT 115,743 27/10/2011 Purchased by Me 115,890
