Reg. no. 5641BP
Frame no. ACT12999
Engine no. 25C 18340
In the 1920s Francis Barnet were powered by JAP and Blackburn engines. They later changed to Villiers engines. In the 1950s and 1960s they were known for their range of Villiers engined lightweight motorcycles, with engines ranging from 98cc – 250cc. In the late 1950s AMC took over the factory in Coventry and shortly afterwards moved manufacturing to the James factory belonging to AMC. The bike in the auction is a trials version fitted with the AMC Villiers competition engine. The engine has not run for some time, but does turn over. It has a current V5c and an old green logbook.
This and over 90 other classic cars and motorcycles will be offered for auction on June 17th at Allington, near Chippenham, Wiltshire SN14 6LJ
