Prior to purchasing the vehicle for restoration the car had only three previous owners. During the last two years the car has undergone a full and genuine bare metal body and nut and bolt restoration with the emphasis on restoring the car so that it looks factory fresh and original whilst bringing a high level of quality to the overall finish of the car. This restoration has just been completed and is now ready for its new owner to enjoy.

The front main headlights have been changed to halogen bulb from the original sealed beam units for better night driving whilst looking original. All new period cotton braided wiring loom throughout. Original 15 leaf rear springs have been retained which have been stripped and rebuilt by specialist. These springs are no longer available but give a better ride to new replacement items available. Car retains the original drum brake system which has been completely rebuilt with all new brake and master cylinders, new brake lines and hoses. New set of correct size Firestone tyres fitted which also add to the original look of the car. New exhaust fitted which provides a lovely period exhaust note. Wherever possible all other original parts for the car have been retained stripped down, restored and new replacement parts purchased where necessary.
At the start of the restoration the original car body, bonnet and doors were firstly stripped of all components and professionally chemically dipped to remove all existing rust, paint and original sealents. Where necessary new panels have been used during the rebuilding of the car including rear outer wings, floor sections, rear bulkhead section including spring hangers, door skins, complete front inner wheel arches, door pillars, dash top, inner and outer sills and footwell panels. Any rusted metal in remaining panels has been cut out and new sections fabricated and butt welded in place to provide a true 100% rust free car. Considerable time and meticulous attention was spent during assembly of the body on shut lines and panel gaps between doors and bonnet to better than factory original.
The car bodywork has then been painted with 2K epoxy primer to provide a rust inhibiting waterproof base and body panels seam sealed. Numerous applications of 2K high build primer have been block sanded by hand between applications to achieve a true flat finish before final application of the Cherry Red paint both externally, underside and also inside the cockpit of the car including rear trunk area. The underside and inside wheel arches of the car have been coated in stone chip protection paint which has also been overpainted in the final cherry red paint to provide a car that looks as good underneath as on top. Many hours were then spent on hand finishing and polishing the external paintwork to a high gloss finish. For added protection the cavities between bodywork panels have been treated to Dinitrol clear cavity wax injection.
An album containing a photographic archive of the restoration will be supplied with the sale. This car is immaculate, runs beautifully and whilst it is both tax and MOT exempt it has a 12 months MOT for added peace of mind. This beautiful car has been restored with careful attention to detail and longevity in mind and is now ready for driving, showing and mostly enjoying.
