There’s nothing quite like an early 70s MGB GT, is there? The perfect mix between 60s sportscar design and the refinements of the later cars. These cars are a fantastic investment, with prices dramatically rising all of the time.

This car is no exception, and I feel you’ll struggle to find a better one in this sort of pricerange. It’s had a great deal of work during its life, which I will detail throughout the ad. MOT until June 2018, and the current MOT has no advisories.

The car has been used as a reliable and regular car for local use. It’s not a show car, but does present nicely, as you can see from the pictures. If you’re looking for a car to use and enjoy, that you’re not afraid to use, then this is probably the one for you!

The car fires up beautifully idles healthily. It pulls strongly and sounds great. The car also rides particularly well thanks to Spax shocks on the rear, and the servo assisted brakes are also very good! Oil pressure is spot-on, and the car does not overheat. The non-overdrive gearbox is nice and tight and does not jump out of gear. An oil cooler is fitted, along with a spin-on oil filter conversion.

Bodily, the car presents nicely. It was repainted a few years ago and has a good shine. Of course, as it’s a few years now since the car was painted, there are a few little imperfection – small dents and a a couple of bits of blistering here and there, but nothing to worry about at all. It’s not a concourse car! The chromework is very nice and has been replaced recently – front grille included. Chrome Rostyle wheels are fitted – a rare and very expensive optional extra from new! The car appears to be solid underneath, having had various bits of welding throughout its life, but again, there was nothing flagged up on the recent MOT. If you’re planning on using through the winter it would benefit from a scrape off and re-underseal, just because some of the old underseal is flaking off in places.

The interior is one of the best points of the car. New steering wheel, seat foams and covers, repainted dash, new handles, new headlining – the list goes on! The engine bay is tidy and serviceable (and body colour), and could be detailed to make it even nicer.

There’s quite a bit of old paperwork with the car – old MOTs, bills and receipts. As stated, it’s not a concourse bare-metalled show winner, but it’s a good, serviceable car that hasn’t been ‘tarted up’ too much throughout its life.
