1968 Morris 1000 Pick-up
Reg. no. LDG 185F
Car no. 222014
Chassis no. t.b.a.
Engine no. t.b.a.
In 1953, Morris introduced commercial variants of its hugely successful Minor; these cars differed from their passenger-bearing siblings by their use of a separate chassis instead of semi-monocoque construction. The commercials were the last Minors to go out of production, in 1972, and remained a common sight for quite some years after that.
This original 1968 pick-up with tilt bars was last on the road in 1998, but has suffered since; the chassis has completely rotted away in the centre and has split in half. However, replacement chassis\' are available, and the cab, interior and most panels are salvageable, so don’t write this Minor off yet! It could, of course, also yield some spare parts. The original 1098cc engine and gearbox are fitted and the engine is fitted with a high compression big-valve cylinder head and an Aquaplane twin-SU carburettor conversion. There is also a higher rear axle ratio fitted. There is a replacement front wing supplied with the vehicle in addition to a V5c. The vehicle is sorned and there is a large history file including old MOT certificates, tax discs etc.
This and over 90 other classic cars and motorcycles will be offered for auction on June 17th at Allington, near Chippenham, Wiltshire SN14 6LJ
