The Jaguar XJ-S, XJS for the third generation, was a GT car of the British automotive company Jaguar. The XJ-S was introduced in 1975 to replace the Jaguar E-Type. The model was built in 3 generations until 1996, followed by the Jaguar XK8. The XJ-S was presented to the press in May 1975 and to the public in September. The newly developed V12 could optionally be linked to a manual or automatic Borg Warner gearbox. The 5.3 liter aluminum V12 engine had a power of 285 hp and had electronic fuel injection. The XJ-S followed the legendary Jaguar E-Type and was a GT coupé. The XJ-S arrived at a rather unfortunate moment. Following the 1973 oil crisis, the market for a 5.3 l V12 GT was tightened. Also the design was not critical. Critics found the car not a worthy successor for the E-Type. Jaguar stepped down from the exuberant use of leather and car and broke it with her tradition. The XJ-S had better aerodynamics than the E-type. The good road location at high speeds was promoted by the 'flying butresses'. These were a remnant of the initial design with mid-engine. From the first model, more than 16,000 were produced between 1975 and 1982. In 1980 only 1057 copies were produced. He has had 3 owners and has few miles.
