Originally built September 1960, 3114 NK represents an excellent example of the very rare and desirable two-seat roadster BN7 model (as opposed to the 2+2 seater BT7) finished in British Racing Green on Ivory duo-tone with Healey Grey (light beige) interior. The hood and tonneau have both very recently been re-trimmed in a wonderful Dark Green to match the exterior paintwork.
This car is one of 111 original right hand drive two-seat models built in 1960. This car is notably featured in Bill Piggot’s ‘Factory-Original Austin Healey Originality Guide’ with the book highlighting the many original and optional features of the car including original steel wheels, optional spotlamps, overdrive and its rare ‘Grey’ interior trim. In addition to this the MKI two-seat cars were notably produced for race and rally homologation with this model winning the Liege-Rome-Liege Rally of 1959, the 1961 Coupes Des Alpes Rally (as drive by Stirling Moss) and entering Le Mans in 1960.
This car is of very high quality having been fully restored very faithfully to original specifications but with subtle mechanical upgrades for future longevity including a lightweight diaphragm clutch, alternator and upgraded wiring loom for safety. The engine performs very well with strong oil pressure, keeps good temperature and makes very good power. The bodywork, panel fit and paint finish are all of very good quality and cement this vehicle as a fine, rare and original example of the Austin Healey.
The car still retains its original UK Hertfordshire registration, rare original buff logbook, a photograph of the original owner by the car one month after purchase and is supplied by us with MOT and heritage certificate of Authenticity. In 2013 we entered the car at Beaulies main summer event where it took a best in show award.
