This Freelander is a pre production vehicle with a chassis number of 411. The first line production vehicle is chassis number 477 which can be currently found in the British Motor Museum at Gaydon.
In the lead up to the launch of the 1997 Freelander, the factory registered a batch of pre production R—BAC Freelanders.
These cars were used for the press launch, quality testing and design work.
R513 BAC was owned by the factory for four years and used by the design studio. It covered just 656 miles during this time.
Whilst with the factory the body colour was changed at least once and 1999 model year seats fitted in leather trim.
R513 BAC was found for sale just 500 yards from the factory gates on Lode Lane Solihull.
