Much Loved 1970 Triumph Herald 13/60 Convertible For SaleAfter 30 years of ownership, we are reluctantly selling our much loved Herald Convertible. Unfortunately, we no longer have enough time to use it and would rather it went so someone who can take more care of it.
It has new MOT the only notifications were a wobbly petrol cap and imbalanced front brakes - I had the pads replaced and all fine now.
It had a full bare metal body restoration in 1994 in time for our wedding chassis was fine and painted with red oxide paint at the time. Over the last 20 years it has been garaged and rarely used in the wet.
It has been lightly modified with a Spitfire 1500 engine (with twin SUs) - it is in good nick and hardly uses any oil. It has a 1500 overdrive gearbox which is fine for some reason gearbox/clutch rattles a bit when cold but once warm goes away. Overdrive fully operational and gives it a much more relaxed cruising manner. Had electronic ignition fitted along with a nice sporty-sounding stainless steel exhaust. It drives really nicely and sounds good too.
Interior is mixed front Vitesse seats are good but there is a very small tear on rear seat back - its been there for 30 years and hasn't got any worse. Door cards could do with re-fixing as some of the clips pop off.
The dashboard is mainly Vitesse mk1 with additional oil pressure dial. The temperature dial doesnt work at the moment needs new dial and/or sender unit. I have never really got the heater to work in winter but, as I have only used it in summer in the last 20 years, I bypassed the heater completely so it doesnt burn my feet!.
The White hood is relatively new with good rear window. The carpets are also pretty new.
I recently had the drivers floor replaced, but front and rear passenger footwells are fine.
Body is generally sound other than the following:
Drivers side rear of front wing just below trim was filled when restored this is now bulging out a bit as can be seen in photo its not rusted through though.
The passenger door skin is rusting and coming away a bit on its lower edge.
A few bubbles of rust on wheel arches but only surface corrosion.
A few bubbles of rust on front leading edge of bonnet no chrome trim on here not sure what happened to it but easily obtainable.
Boot floor has recently been repaired by the rear offsite outrigger this wasnt an MOT issue but I just wanted it done.
Wheels are from Vitesse Mk 1 tyres are in good condition, plenty of tread left.
Comes with desirable after-market hard top in good nick its fibre glass and has strange front u-bolt fixing but looks good and works well.
