Bristol 411 Series 1 For Sale (1969)As stated by LJK Setright in his delightful book 'Bristol Cars and Engines': '...even if other makes should come to rival it, the Bristol 411 will always enjoy the distinction of having been, in its time, ... the best car in the world. Extreme in nothing and soberly proficient in everything, it is the worlds fastest full four seater, Mercedes Benz and Maserati notwithstanding. To some it is old fashioned; so is virtue.'
I have owned this particular example for a couple of years and clocked up a few thousand enjoyable miles. Originally pastel blue, but now nicely presented in metallic grey having been repainted following a rebuild from an insurance 'total loss' over the period 1995 - 2009. Documented expenditure, including recommissioning by a marque specialist and subsequent work to the front suspension and automatic gearbox by Bristol Cars Ltd, amounts to around £40k. The car featured in the April 2012 Octane article 'All the Bristols - from 400 to Fighter'; a copy is included, along with ownership history, handbook and all MoTs and receipts from 2009 onwards.
The car drives very nicely, handles neatly on almost new Pirelli Cinturato radials, and recently completed a 600+ mile round trip without missing a beat. The paintwork is presentable but shows some areas of electrolytic corrosion in the usual places; the interior is very attractive and there are no mechanical issues so far as I am aware. The engine is the original Chrysler 383 cubic inch unit, uses little oil with healthy oil pressure, starts easily hot or cold and seems set to go on for ever.
As a long term Bristol owner and enthusiast with several other cars and projects I am trying to rationalise my collection, so not really open to anything other than an outright sale.
