Porsche 924 Le Mans 1980 For SaleA Special Model 924 designated "Le Mans" was introduced across Europe to commemorate the success of the first water cooled Porsche entry in the 1980 Le Mans event. Of the 1,000 produced, only 100 RHD versions came to the UK. All of the cars were finished in Alpine White, with sports suspension, leather covered 4 spoke steering wheel, Turbo style 15" wheels and rear spoiler, and an interior of black leatherette with black/white pinstripe fabric with white piping. The external coachwork was finished with a tri-colour stripe in the German national colours and "Le Mans" logo. A sunroof, electric windows/mirrors and a rear wiper completed the package. The Launch price was £10,600, £1,000 dearer than the 924 lux.
This particular car, one of about a dozen of the RHD models remaining, is possibly one of the most original of the handful on the road. Supplied new in September 1980 by Roger Clark Cars to it's first owner who covered about 37,000 miles in 19 years of ownership being one of several cars the family owned. Subsequently the car has covered a further 28,000 miles in various caring hands. The total mileage of under 66,000 being fully supported by a comprehensive history including all MOT's from 1985. The whole car is in exceptionally original condition with non faded interior, unmarked dash , excellent paint work and with any minor body remedials over the years noted. Full handbook pack and unmarked toolkit.
This car has been a previous class winner at Porsche events, and an exhibit on the 924 OC stand at the NEC in 2011 and 2016.
It requires nothing and has an MOT until April 2018. Ideal for the Le Mans Classic.
