This is a lovely example of Morgan’s first 4 wheeled car with a 4 cylinder engine – hence the 4/4 name was born.
This particular car was cosmetically restored in the Czech Republic in the late 2000’s and thereafter used for display purposes only. Acquired by the current owner in January 2015 the car was repatriated to the U.K. in running condition and subsequently placed with a Series 1 expert George Proudfoot to bring the car up to an excellent mechanical standard commensurate with the exceptional cosmetic condition.
Mechanically, work included attention to the electrics including a new wiring loom, radiator, suspension, brakes and engine – the total bill was in excess of £10,000. As expected, the car now performs very well with its 1100cc Coventry Climax engine and Meadows gearbox feeling fresh and strong.
There is evidence of reported chassis damage just prior to WW2 and a new chassis was fitted by the Morgan Factory after the war which resulted in a new registration date of 29th April 1948 on completion of the repairs and being road registered again.
We believel the car represents very good value for money in the current buoyant classic car market and is only for sale as the owner has purchased a new Morgan through us.
