TVR Griffith 500 - ImpressiveBlue! NOW SOLD SOLD (1998)
|This very handsome Griffith 500 was first registered on 3 Nov 1998. That was 2 years before TVR announced a Special Edition run of 100 cars to mark the end of Griffith production. Those were built between 2000 and 2002.|
“Impressive Blue?” Read on… This Griffith is actually finished in Imperial Blue with a magnolia full hide interior! The roof is, appropriately, trimmed in blue Mohair and has recently been recoloured and waterproofed. The interior is finished in the classic complement to the blue exterior - Ivory toned colourways which work so well with the very handsome, unmarked, walnut veneered dash panels - themselves enhanced by the full range of Leven aluminium technology! The carpets are of course dark blue leather bound in Magnolia - throughout.
And now we come to the sound. The car has a Pioneer MOSFET 50W x 4 RDS EEQ One shot CD head unit, which plays through Kenwood speakers and a serious Sony Subwoofer behind the rear parcel shelf. But the real aural tone - to die for of course - comes from the car’s exhaust. This car is not for shrinking violets. You are going to get looked at as you rumble through the towns and villages of John Bull Britain! Europeans will regret its passing too!
Let’s look at the car’s state of preparation… First of all, it has the “optional” power assisted steering and the optional full leather seats and headrests. And technically the car is very well sorted. Indeed it comes with a power graph evidencing 294 BHP.
But the real attraction is that the car had a full body off restoration over the winter of 2012/13. This process included new outriggers, which were properly engineered into position, rather than just “cut and sleeved” into place. The chassis, outriggers and wishbones were all shot blasted, then zinc primed, then finished in 2 coats of 2 pack paint. The underside of the chassis was then protected with clear under seal.
A “Full nut and bolt restoration” continued on into 2013. It included removal of the PreCats and ceramic chrome refinishing of the exhausts - inside and out. The engine bay was fully worked through (see the photo!). The engine was equipped with smooth bore hoses and stainless water pipes and the rocker covers and plenum were ceramic painted. The car was treated to a 7” headlamp upgrade with new Perspex covers. And an HID conversion to the main and dipped headlamps was carried out. Protective Perspex covers were fitted to the intake - mounted driving lamps. It also had a new AP clutch, cover and thrust bearing fitted.
In the last 12 months the car has also recently benefited from new discs and pads all around, and new original specification rear light clusters.
On the technical front, this Griff 500 is also well up to the mark. It has been serviced conscientiously (see records below). And, apart from the information above, it is relevant that it is fitted with an aluminium radiator, the suspension is by Nitron with Racing Red shock absorbers, it has an ACT induction hose kit and the immaculate recently refinished alloys are fitted with Toyo Proxes T1- R tyres all round.
The car had been in its sixth owner’s hands for the last 10 years. He only parted with this car in order to buy a one owner Tuscan Mk3 4.0 S convertible.
This TVR has a fully stamped service record and all paperwork and service invoices are available for the last 11 years. It has been subjected to a “Hawk-Eyed” Str8six PDI. And, and a full Geo set up carried out in 2016
S907 OPO was supplied with Str8six's renowned "All the 12s" handover specification - i.e. Full 12,000 miles service revisited, 12 months MOT, 12 months TAX. It also has an inbuilt 12 volt trickle charger and it will come with a spare wheel in the boot.
So, without belabouring the point, this car is in really nice condition having had a complete top spec repaint in the last 12 months. It’s a stunning example, and it is a truly driveable and extremely presentable “Pride and Joy” car.
