Porsche 911 2.7 RS, Porsche AG Restoration For Sale (1973)Porsche Centre Leeds, an official Porsche GB Classic Partner, is privileged to be able to offer this unique example of a Carrera 2.7 RS Touring, car number 410. This particular RS has been subject to a full documented nut and bolt restoration by Porsche AG Germany, with photographic evidence at each and every stage. Never before has Porsche AG restored a 2.7 RS.
• Car number 410
• UK Car RHD
• Only 17 of the first 500 cars were RHD
• The first 500 cars all had lightweight panels
• This is the only car to be completely restored by Porsche AG using lightweight panels, indeed Porsche AG manufactured, for the first time since the original production run, the lightweight panels for this car only.
• This is the only 911 2.7 RS, in history, to be restored by Porsche AG
• The restoration has had no financial restrictions from both client or Porsche AG
This example, chassis number 410, is one of the initial batch of 500 Carrera RS models. Only five hundred cars were to be made in order to qualify for entry in to Group 4 sports car racing. Every one of the 500 cars were sold before it was built and such was the demand from buyers fuelled by great press reviews that Porsche were forced to turn it into a production model with further 1090 cars being manufactured. However, the first 500 cars were virtually hand-made and featured a number of differences, notably they were made of lighter gauge metal than the later production cars. Consequently, they have become the most collectable. Indeed, only 17 of the 500 were right hand drive.
The car comes with full ownership and maintenance history from new. The original service book indicates that it was supplied by Porsche dealer Motortune Ltd of Brompton Road, London. Its specification remains exactly as it left the factory, with Light Yellow (6262) paintwork, cord and leatherette black sports seats, electric sunroof and windows and heated rear window.
In 2011, although in very good and largely original order throughout with matching numbers, the owner approached Porsche AG Germany requesting a full and total restoration. This would be the only total restoration by Porsche AG of a 2.7 RS including, for the first time since the 1970’s, lightweight panels. In 2012 the car was delivered to the Porsche AG Classic factory in Germany where it would remain for 3 years before restoration. When the restoration began it was the start of a love affair for both client and Porsche themselves without financial restriction. The total restoration includes full and detailed documented parts and labour for all areas of the vehicle from start to finish. Porsche AG have also taken photos at every stage for evidence and credence and presented it in a box finished in light yellow paint, the same colour as the car. Never before have we seen such attention to detail and the factory even has the confidence to provide the vehicle with a 2 year warranty. This truly is a special and unique 2.7 RS and we feel very honoured to bring this car to market for the very first time.
We have available with the vehicle;
• Full photographic evidence of restoration at each and every stage.
• Full and detailed invoices for Assembly, Engine, Transmission, Body, Paint, Interior, Suspension, and Electrical System even down to every nut and bolt.
• The re-manufactured key tag that would have been supplied with the car when new.
