In Rosso Rubino the 308 freely emanates the aggression of a thoroughbred yet in an Italian refined aristocratic way. All key design elements are well presented with a proper level of drama, wonderfully enveloped by the well defined contours. Its mild metallic touch enhances the contrast of the lighter from darker areas offering a full sense of depth, volume and aesthetics. Needless to say that the Rosso Rubino's effect could only be supported by a beige interior.
This early carburetted GTS was properly selected to feature this color combination. Since new it has been treated with utmost respect and loving care, evidenced by its low mileage, impeccable service history, total originality and stunning cosmetic condition. It recently received its scheduled full maintenance including timing belt service and is now ready to show or drive.

Ferrari 308 history:
The 308 GTB was introduced to re-establish Ferrari’s reign in automotive artistry, recently doubted by Bertone’s Dino GT4. Pininfarina took over the project and based it on his most recent creation, the 246 GT. The end result was presented at the 1975 Paris Motor Show and stunned the automotive world. A year later the GTS open-top edition was released which turned out to be far more popular than GTB. The main reason was that the open air driving permitted not only to enjoy the scenery but also hear the incredible howling of the 4 Webers feeding Ferrari’s ferocious V8. Unfortunately this experience would become obsolete just two years later as Ferrari substituted Webers with Bosch K-Jet injection fuel system. Ferrari made this decision to boost sales knowingly that the early carbureted ones will always be the purest of the breed.
The intoxicating Ferrari engineering couldn't be better presented than in Pininfarina’s strikingly shaped body. However, the different colors offered provided different expressions of the core idea. Therefore making the right choice was of utmost importance in the final effect. Ferrari, being an Italian company in the late seventies, offered only 19 colors which revolved around popular red, black, blue and unpopular green, silver, brown, white and yellow. The various shades of blue (ie Azzurro Metallizzato) were elegant but reminisced earlier designs and somewhat tamed the 308’s sporty character. Black would provide an interplay between shades and reflections but several key 308 design elements would eventually blend away into the body. Therefore red was by far the safest choice in presenting the 308 personality. Of the 3 available shades, the more luminous Chiaro and Dino were striking enough to express the sporty character but the elegance was lost. In particular the Dino’s intense brightness made it hard to perceive borders between similarly colored panels. The only color that provided a perfect blend of Ferrari sportsmanship and elegance was Rosso Rubino Metallizzato.
