HISTORY FILE – Our iconic example has recently been released from a small private collection by an immaculate man renowned for his exacting standards. Initially somewhat unhappy with his purchase in 2014, the now well documented respray and part restoration have been carried to a high standard culminating in the car you see today. Purchased from a long term previous owner, our Alfa has clearly led a very sheltered life in the last 15 years. A recent condition 2 (part 2+) valuation confirms the cars quality for the next fastidious owner.
EXTERIOR – Our Giuseppe Scarnati designed Giulia Super is a rare sight these days. This classic Alfa Romeo is finished in Alfa pearl white (013). The well suited colour has a glossy uniform finish and structurally perfect following a respray and part restoration in 2015; this cherished example is an incredible survivor. The stainless steel bumpers, over-riders and other bright-work are in well restored order and compliment the striking paintwork beautifully. Sporting front fog lights along with Alfa emblem bullet chrome door mirrors make these cars stand out from a period that will sadly - never be repeated. The epitome of Italian flair and design preserved for all to marvel and for those who dare to be different.
INTERIOR - The front seats and rear bench are covered in high quality black leather and are almost new in quality. The matching vinyl door cards are pristine with new black carpeting throughout and covered with additional Alfa emblem carpet floor mats. Typical Alfa Romeo styling characteristics are dominant, emphasised with a stylish three spoke wood and chrome steering wheel. The quality, but delicately designed switchgear is fully functional and intact, accompanied with a period style Gelhard Classic 40 radio/CD player.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION - The light alloy four cylinder in-line unit in this Giulia 1300 Super model features two double-choke horizontal carburetors. Displacing 1290cc,the 89ps(65kW)engine fires promptly at the turn of the key assisted by its modern electronic ignition and delivers quiet yet very eager performance. Matching the engine is Alfa’s remarkable five speed all-synchro gearbox, the only saloon car in its power bracket - at the time - to feature five forward speeds! Both manual choke and hand throttle work perfectly, although rarely needed. These cars offer incredibly lively performance for the period, from a modest engine size and a driving experience that should not be missed.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES - Five immaculate pressed steel wheels are graced with stainless hubcaps showcasing beautiful Alfa Romeo detailing. All Giulia’s traditionally left the factory with Pirelli Cinturato tyres. Our example boasts the correct shoes in Pirelli P4 185/70 R14 size with excellent tread remaining. Once used to the typical vague Alfa brakes, the all-round disc braking system with servo assistance offers adequate stopping power.
Rare and unique, this beautiful ALFA ROMEO has never been restored since 1963.
