Opportunity to own an outstanding Daimler motorcar, recently acquired direct from an exclusive private collection in Cumbria. The car underwent a lengthy and scrupulously correct professional restoration between 2006 and 2009, reputedly costing in excess of £20,000.
The car was in very original condition to start with and it is believed that the current mileage of 64,077 represents the complete distance travelled from new. According to the MOT records it has only driven 2,000 miles in the last 30 years.
All mechanicals were serviced/overhauled, coachwork re-metalled as required and then re-cellulosed in Burgundy and Black, with gold coach line, leather re-Connolised, new wool headlining, new deep pile Rolls Royce quality carpets, polished walnut woodwork, new s/s exhaust.
On the road, one very noticeable feature is the whisper quiet engine, which makes for a very peaceable driving experience in this dignified grand saloon.
Also fitted:- Clarion radio/CD player with discreet screen aerial, working semaphores, integral DWS jacking system, automatic chassis lubrication system. The new luxurious Mulliner-built “Consort” first appeared at the 1948 London Motor Show as a modified edition of the well-proven standard 2.5 litre chassis. Improvements included new frontal treatment, with the distinctive fluted radiator grille swept back in an attractive curve and flanked by two headlamps now faired into the wings.
The well-known Daimler transmission, incorporating a fluid flywheel and preselector epicyclic gearbox was retained with finger tip control lever. This system gives almost infinite top gear performance down to zero speed. It being possible to start the Daimler smoothly from rest in top gear ( although best to use lower gears as well for normal driving ).
Inside the rear compartment there is considerable legroom with integrated footrests and flat floor area. Both front seats are easily adjustable, either individually or together to form a bench seat, the floor being clear of controls.
